A Quick Note..

TomDear friends – in case you missed it, I started 2015 with a job change – Politico was kind enough to write a story about it.

I wanted to take a quick moment to reach out and tell you a little more about TargetSmart, and what I’ve been up to in my first two months on the job.

For years, TargetSmart has been a leader and a pioneer in bringing “Big Data” to the Democratic and progressive political sphere. Over the past several years, we’ve partnered with the DNC and National Voter File Coop to help provide people in the field with the best data available. And one thing I’ve learned about the TargetSmart team – they are always innovating: looking for new sources for data, and new solutions to turn data into action.

As I mentioned in my conversation with Politico in November, one of my priorities in joining TargetSmart was to find ways to work with more of our allies in labor and progressive organizations. While we are just beginning our outreach, we’ve already signed two important organizations in this community.

First, in February we announced the signing of the United Steelworkers. As organized Labor has come under attack in statehouses around the country, we couldn’t be more proud to join USW in the fight for the rights of working Americans everywhere. USW has earned a reputation for innovative use of data in their efforts – they will be using SmartVAN as part of their political efforts moving forward. In addition to political uses, we will be working with their organizing team to leverage our powerful data matching technologies and depth of individual data to enhance their organizing programs.

Not long after, we sealed an agreement with Environmental Defense Fund. They are doing critical work protecting the planet and the life on it from countless threats. We will be acting as strategic consultants, assisting their team on targeting, resource allocation, and their general use of data.

We couldn’t be more excited to work with these two organizations – joining a long list of important organizations and campaigns we’re proud to call our clients.

In the coming weeks and months, I’d love to follow up with you to talk about ways we might work together. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Thanks,
Tom
