Joe joined TargetSmart in 2016 and is a data scientist and statistician with a decade of experience in voter contact, demographic and economic research, municipal government, and behavioral health.
His expertise with an array of analytic software products, coupled with his depth of experience in the trenches of political campaigns, has informed his ability to build predictive models that help candidates and campaign leaders make targeted decisions, develop interactive dashboards integrating raw data with model scores, and elegantly map geographic patterns in diverse data sets.
Prior to joining TargetSmart, Joe worked as a field director and organizer for five Democratic campaigns and a state party, beginning with Obama ’08. He subsequently pursued a master’s degree with a quantitative focus, and then worked as a demographic researcher and behavioral health analyst with the goal of developing skillsets and perspective that would translate back to the political sphere.
Joe holds a BA in American Political Advocacy and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. A native of Houston, he met his wife on the campaign trail and now makes his home in Northampton, MA. When he’s not doing math to help Democrats win, Joe plays baseball year-round and has his heart regularly broken by the Houston Astros.
